What to Expect in a TRE Session & Workshop

What to expect during your first TRE session and upcoming ACE CoLab workshops

Trying a new somatic practice can feel unfamiliar at first. TRE sessions are designed to be simple, supportive, and accessible, even for people who are completely new to body-based practices.

During the TRE Session

A typical TRE session begins with an introduction to the practice. Allie then guides participants through a short series of gentle exercises designed to activate the muscles of the legs and hips. These movements stretch and gently fatigue the muscles, preparing the body for the tremoring response.

Next, participants lie down on a mat and allow the body to begin natural tremoring. The tremors often start in the legs or hips and may remain subtle or move through different areas of the body. Everyone’s experience is different.

Some people notice gentle shaking, while others feel small pulses or waves of movement. Some sessions involve very minimal movement. All of these responses are normal.

In TRE, the body guides the experience. Although the tremoring is involuntary, you remain in control the entire time. Participants learn simple ways to slow down, pause, or stop tremoring whenever needed, allowing the process to unfold at a pace that feels safe and comfortable.

Sessions end with a period of rest and integration so the nervous system can settle and absorb the experience.

After the TRE Session

After a TRE session, people may feel relaxed and calm, energized, tired and ready for rest, or experience mild muscle soreness. Some people also notice emotional shifts or increased awareness as the body processes and releases tension. These responses are part of the body’s natural integration process.

With consistent practice, many people experience improvements in their physical, mental, and emotional well-being, including decreased anxiety, better sleep, easier digestion, and fewer aches and pains. Releasing tension can open the door to greater resilience, deeper connection with ourselves and others, and a stronger sense of vitality.

TRE with ACE CoLab

ACE CoLab offers TRE workshops online and in the community. As a certified provider, Allie introduces participants to the practice in a safe and supportive environment.

These workshops provide an opportunity to learn TRE, explore how your body responds to the tremoring process, and develop tools for regulating your nervous system.

No previous experience is necessary, and the workshops are designed to be welcoming for all bodies.

If you are curious about exploring TRE or learning a new approach to releasing stress and tension from the body, these workshops are a great place to begin.
